About the program
How long has the program existed? The ETM program accepted its first students in 1998. Since that time we have granted over 600 degrees and over 30 certificates.
What type of students make up the student body? Our student body is made up entirely of working professionals who are pursuing the degree on a part-time basis -- no traditional full-time on-campus students. The educational backgrounds of the majority of our students span all fields of engineering and technology but also include a small number of students with degrees in information systems, business and others,
Is the program accredited? Yes. The MSETM program draws upon courses and faculty from the College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology, the College of Business Administration and the College of Arts and Sciences at Oklahoma State University. Each of these three colleges is fully accredited as is customary and appropriate. In addition Oklahoma State University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, a part of the North Central Association (http://www.ncahlc.org). The NCAHLC, one of six U.S. regional institutional accrediting associations, offers the highest form of accreditation that is available to universities.
What is the average class size? The average class size in the 2016-2017 academic year was 14 students.
Is a thesis required? No. The MSETM program requires a capstone project which is embedded in a required course ETM 5133 Capstone to Strategy, Technology and Integration. Other courses required that help students prepare for the capstone are ETM 5111 Intro to Strategy, Technology and Integration and ETM 5511 Capstone Preparation.
Is OSU able to accept transfer credit? In some cases prior credit earned by students may be transferred in to the MSETM program. Transfer hours are not accepted in the Certificate program. Transfer credit must be earned at an accredited university, be graduate level coursework and a grade of "B" or better must show on an official transcript in order to be considered. Military training approved for graduate level credit through ACE may also be acceptable.
Are there any on-campus requirements? No, there is never a time during the program when students must come to campus. We do however invite all of our graduates to join us on campus for graduation ceremonies. Also, we enjoy meeting our students and love to show off our BEAUTIFUL campus so we welcome visits anytime.
Is a TOEFL required for international applicants? To be admitted we require a score of at least 100 on a TOEFL taken within the past two years. TOEFL waivers may be granted if prior degree is from an institution where medium of instruction is English or school is located in a country where English is the official language.
Is a GRE or GMAT score required for application? No, we do not require a standardized test for admission. However, if you took the test, you can choose to submit th score if you think it will strengthen your application.
What is the cost to apply? The application fee for domestic students is $50 per application. International applications require a $75 fee.
Is financial aid available? Most of the students in the ETM program get some sort of financial assistance from their employer. If this is not an option for you, please consult with our financial aid office to see if you qualify.
What is the cost of tuition and fees? Tuition and fees vary for Oklahoma Residents, Non-Oklahoma Residents and International Students. Please visit our Distance Education page to use a tuition esimator spreadsheet to help determine costs based on your enrollment type.
Aside from tuition and fees are there any other costs associated with the program? The only additional cost students can expect is the cost of textbooks. Books can vary per class from $0 (no textbook required) to $100 per books.
Are there any special benefits for military students? Yes, currently students who can prove active duty status will pay the same tuition rate as Oklahoma residents. Proof of status should be submitted prior to each semester. OSU also has an office dedicated to serving veterans and military students with GI Bill benefits and other situations. See the OSU Veteran's Benefit Services Office for more detail.
